Agha Salman was left bleeding after top-edging a sweep during Asia Cup 2023 clash between India and Pakistan in Colombo on Monday night.

Pakistan batter Agha Salman was left bleeding from under his eye after top-edging an attempted sweep of left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja during an India vs Pakistan Super Four match at the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 on Monday. Salman wasn’t wearing a helmet.

Agha walked in at bat after the exit of Mohammad Rizwan. He had collected 15 runs off 22 deliveries before copping the blow. India wicketkeeper KL Rahul checked on him with blood dripping down his face.

Several India players gathered around to check on Salman before Pakistan physio rushed in to treat the wound. Swelling was visible under his eye and he eventually underwent a concussion test.

After tending to him the physio left with Salman putting on a helmet to resume his innings. He though added eight more runs to his total before being trapped LBW by Kuldeep Yadav later on.

Pakistan have already been hit by fitness issues to their fast bowling duo of Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah.

Rauf, who bowled five overs yesterday, didn’t take the field today as a precautionary measure. He complained of a discomfort on his right flank and underwent MRI scans which revealed inflammation.

Later on in the India innings, Naseem pulled midway out of his over holding his hand as he walked off the field.

India have been dominating the contest after opting to bat first. Centuries from Virat Kohli and KL Rahul helped them to a massive 356/2 in 50 overs before they left Pakistan reeling with early wickets.

Kohli was India’s top-scorer with an unbeaten 122 while Rahul made 111 not out with the duo stitching a double-century stand for the third wicket.

The contest has been pushed to the reserve day thanks to rain not permitting any play after India made 147/2 in 24.1 overs on Sunday.

Pakistan captain Babar had opted to field first but India openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill led an excellent start, adding 121 runs. Both struck half-centuries.
