BJP Rajya Sabha MP Narhari Amin lost his consciousness during a group photo session that was being held at the old Parliament building on Tuesday. Amin, later gained composure and became a part of the photo session again.

The moment was captured on camera and the video was shared by news agency, ANI on their official ‘X’, formerly known as Twitter account.

Before the function that was conducted in the Central Hall today, three separate group photographs — first of MPs from both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, second of RS members and third of LS members — was taken at the inner courtyard of the old Parliament building.

The new complex, which is part of the Central Vista Project, has now been designated as the ‘Parliament House of India’. After the function, the House proceedings were shifted to the new building.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi requested Members of Parliament to reaffirm the commitment to make India a developed nation by 2047 and called the move to the new Parliament building as a new beginning towards a new future.

Members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Tuesday gathered at the historic Central Hall of the old Parliament building for the function.

“We are shifting to the new Parliament building. It is an auspicious day, it is Ganesh Chaturthi,” he said, addressing a function held in the Central Hall to commemorate the rich legacy of the Parliament of India “My suggestion is that as we are going to the new building, the glory of this building should never decline. It should not be called just the old Parliament… It can be named Samvidhan Sadan,” Modi said.

Led by PM Modi, several MPs walked from the old to the new Parliament building to attend the sitting in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha chambers in the new complex. Modi, flanked by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP chief JP Nadda, walked from the old Parliament building to the new one, with NDA MPs following them while raising slogans such as ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Matram’.

Lok Sabh Speaker Om Birla also walked to the new Parliament separately. Several opposition MPs were also seen later walking towards the new Parliament complex.

The government on Tuesday introduced a constitutional amendment bill to reserve one-third of seats in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies for women, reviving the concept of women’s reservation pending for 27 years for want of consensus among parties.

Making it the first bill to be introduced in the new building of the Parliament, the government said it will enable greater participation of women in policy-making at the state and national levels and help achieve the goal of making India a developed country by 2047. The bill has been named Narishakti Vandan Adhiniyam.
