If you’ve had your eye on a Vision Pro headset for its launch, ready yourself for disappointment. Shipping dates have been pushed back by months, and scalpers are reselling them at nearly double the price.

Apple’s new Vision Pro is now available for pre-order in the US, starting at $3,499 for the 256GB model and going up to $3,899 for the 1TB model. However, due to high demand, it may be difficult to get one at launch or soon after. Some reports say that shipping times could be as long as March.

Due to the high demand for the Vision Pro, some people have been buying up units and then reselling them for a higher price on websites like eBay. This means that people who want to buy a Vision Pro may have to wait longer or pay more than the retail price.

A quick search on eBay, will tell you the complete story. We can confirm that units are going for as high as $6,000, and on average, they are around $4,000 to $5,000.

Notably, the Vision Pro mixed reality headset is already an expensive product, and with resellers capitalising on the stock shortage, customers might end up paying as much as twice the retail price when buying from these sellers.

This is not advised, considering an important factor: the Vision Pro is not a one-size-fits-all product. When purchased directly from Apple’s online website or offline retail stores, Apple scans your face to carefully select the appropriate size of the Light Seal and other in-box items based on your head size, ensuring an ideal experience. Buying from a scalper may result in a subpar fit and experience.

The Vision Pro also comes with optical inserts, and while you can purchase them later, it’s in your best interest to buy them along with your initial purchase for optimal headset use.

That said, you shouldn’t succumb to buying a Vision Pro headset directly from these scalpers. Doing so would only further encourage their practices, making it difficult for genuine buyers to acquire these products at retail prices. If you come across a listing, it’s advisable to ignore the ad and purchase your unit directly from Apple.
