Mohammad Amir returned 4 for 7 in T20 League game

Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir came up with an impeccable display to earn an emphatic win for his side New York Strikers against Chennai Braves at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir may not be active in international cricket but his recent performance in the Abu Dhabi T10 League was certainly a statement that enough fuel is still left in the tank. The left-arm quick came up with an impeccable display to earn an emphatic win for his side New York Strikers against Chennai Braves at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Amir picked up four wickets for just seven runs in his two overs. Notably, three of his four victims fell prey to his devastating bowling in just one over. His jaw-dropping shopping helped the Strikers restrict the Braves to 75/9 and earn a comfortable five-wicket win on Wednesday.

With this triumph, New York Strikers extended their winning streak to five games in the competition, retaining their top spot in the standings with 10 points from six matches.

It was just the second over of the game when Mohammad Amir ran out Chennai Braves’ opening batter Kobe Herft for a duck. The Pakistan pacer then dismissed the other opening batter George Munsey for six runs before taking down the duo of Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Charith Asalanka as the over turned out to be a 4-wicket maiden.

Amir returned to bowl the 8th over and removed English batter Jason Roy to complete a fur-wicket haul.

Chaing 76, the New York Strikers found themselves in a precarious situation after both their opening batters failed to score a single run. Both Niroshan Dickwella and wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz were dismissed in the very first over of the New York Strikers innings.

Later, Asif Ali produced a commendable knock of unbeaten 23 off 13 balls to guide New York Strikers to a convincing win. The Kieron Pollard-led side scored the winning runs with nine balls to spare. Mohammad Amir was, quite rightfully, named Player of the Match for his superb bowling. The defeat left Chennai Braves languishing at the seventh spot in the Abu Dhabi T10 standings.
