The recent results of Google Trends showed that Virat Kohli is the most searched Asian personality in the year 2023 so far.

Virat Kohli is among the most popular athletes on social media not only in India but globally. He has attained levels of popularity that are rivalled by only a few in the country. A testament to his popularity is the recent results of Google Trends which show that he is the most searched Asian personality in the year 2023 so far.

As attributed by Crictracker, the star Indian batter has taken the title of the most searched personality in Asia on the largest search engine in the world, Google. Kohli took over the famous Korean Pop group BTS V who were leading the chart for the first half of the year. He surpassed BTS members Jung Kook and V and claimed the number 1 spot. He also surpassed Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif who was the most searched Asian personality of the year 2022.

This news has come as a cherry on top for the batter after the Indian team was crowned the champions of the Asia Cup 2023. The Men in Blue had a stellar campaign in the tournament as they just lost one match and performed well in every aspect. Kohli had a decent showing in the tournament as he played an outstanding knock, scoring a century against India’s arch-rivals Pakistan.

The ‘Run Machine’ as he is popularly known, smashed his 47th ODI century and dominated the Pakistan’s bowling line-up scoring 122 runs off just 94 balls. With this knock, he reached the milestone of 13,000 runs in ODI cricket. He became the fastest batter to reach the milestone completing it in just 267 innings. He surpassed Sachin Tendulkar who reached the feat in 321 innings. Virat now stands fifth in the leading run scorers tally in the ODI format just behind Sri Lankan legend, Sanath Jayasuriya.

India would be happy with their performance in the Asia Cup 2023 and will be looking at it as a good test they had before the World Cup. India had too many questions to answer while entering the tournament. There were doubts with regards to players coming off an injury as well as the team being criticized for their structuring and the Rohit Sharma-led side has come out on top shunning every doubter.

India will now be hosting Australia for a three-match ODI series before they take part in the World Cup 2023 next month.
