Vigilance notice to former Punjab CM: Channi summoned for questioning in case of disproportionate assets; LOC has also been issued

Former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s troubles have increased. The Vigilance Bureau has summoned him for questioning in the disproportionate assets case. He has been asked to appear before the inquiry at 10 am on Wednesday.

This will be the first interrogation of Channi by the Vigilance Bureau. Earlier, Lookout Circular (LOC) has also been issued against Channi. According to vigilance sources, a detailed report has been prepared about Channi’s assets. When he appears before the bureau, a list of properties owned by him will be sought and tallied with the detailed report.

Program to go to America had to be canceled
Last month, when the Vigilance Bureau learned that Channi was planning to go abroad, it issued a lookout circular against him on March 7. After getting information about this, Channi released a video. In which said that he has canceled his program to go to America.

The Vigilance Bureau was probing the assets of former chief minister Channi, his brothers and family members. In fact, the Vigilance Bureau had received inputs about undue favors being given by the former CM to some contractors.

Nephew arrested by ED ahead of 2022 assembly elections
Last year, before the 2022 assembly elections, Channi’s nephew Bhupinder Singh Honey was arrested by the ED with Rs 10 crore. The ED was probing whether Honey had received the money to help mining contractors and transfer and posting of officers.
