LUCKNOW: Days after the 2022 UP poll debacle, Samajwadi Party on Monday reached out to its party leaders and workers seeking suggestions related to the party organisation vis-a-vis UP assembly poll results. This the first time that the party leadership has sought suggestions from the leaders and the cadres.
The party has also cautioned the party workers to beware of ‘BJP IT cell‘ and use a ‘controlled’ language while sending their suggestions. The move is being seen as a precursor to a possible overhaul of the party’s organisational structure in the near future.
While SP chief Akhilesh Yadav is directly monitoring the entire exercise of ‘feedback collection’ personally, sources said the party plans to set-up a well-oiled mechanism within the SP chief’s office to monitor all incoming suggestions, categories them for a more careful review of the details of suggestions that are politically viable and in the interest of the organisation. The team, comprising trained professionals, will also be entrusted with the job of preparing a summary of the suggestion for a ‘quick view’ before going into the details of the suggestion. A directory of ‘senders’ will also be maintained to get back to them in case the party needs any clarification or further discussion on the suggestion.
The need for seeking suggestions from the common worker was felt by the SP national president following information trickling in from various quarters that the party worker on ground who had toiled for the party in the assembly elections should also be given a chance to address his concerns and ideas before the party leadership in a well defined manner.
“All leaders and party workers of Samajwadi Party are directed to send their suggestions, if any, related to the organisation with regards to the Assembly election results directly to the party’s national president on his email id yadavakhilesh@gmail.com. Beware of BJP IT cell, stay alert and creative and exercise restraint in the language used,” the message in Hindi read.
“Senior leaders are already meeting SP chief Akhilesh Yadav every day and giving their feedback on election results, issue of EVMs, role of government officials and the hits and misses. It is the common party workers, which is our real workforce, which is usually left unheard. So for the first time our party chief decided to enter into a meaningful dialogue with the workers on the ground in a forum which is open to senior leaders as well,” said SP national spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary.
Within the party cadres, the move is being seen as an indication of a possible overhaul within the party’s organisational set-up as a first step to SP’s preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The party leadership had dissolved a the party’s state unit and all 15 frontal organisations after the 2019 Lok Sabha polls as well which were only constituted ahead of the 2022 Assembly polls.
