Urmila Matondkar Describes Vikrant Massey’s 12th Fail ‘National Award-Worthy’

New Delhi: Everyone has been raving about Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ’12th Fail’ since its October 27th, 2023 theatrical premiere. Starring Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankr, the film debuted in December on the OTT platform. Following its release, several celebrities, including Hrithik Roshan, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, and others, expressed their admiration for the film. Actress Urmila Matondkar has now taken to social media to rave over Vikrant’s work in the film.

Praising Vikrant Massey, Urmila Matondkar said he deserves a national award. With the caption “Uff yeh film..So so many things to appreciate, cheer and love about it!,” Matondkar gushed about the film on her X account (formerly Twitter). 

She added, “Only @VidhuChopraa could’ve spun a story in such simple n deeply soul searching manner! Outstanding performances by all @VikrantMassey shining the brightest Both him n film are deserving of national awards.”

Thanking her, Vikrant Massey responded by writing that he was awestruck by the actress. He commented, “My deepest gratitude, ma’am. Star-struck and a little tongue-tied, I must admit. Am one of millions who have admired you. Your message today, nevertheless, has really brightened my day. “Really appreciate it.” 

Shortly after the film’s OTT release, Hrithik Roshan expressed his thoughts regarding the Medha Shankr and Vikrant Massey’s film on social media. “Finally saw 12th Fail. It’s quite a masterclass in filmmaking. Above everything else I was inspired by the use of sound and sound effects play in enhancing the moments. Brilliant performances. Mr. Chopra, what a movie! Thank you for the brilliance. I am deeply inspired by this one,” he wrote.

Vikrant Massey-starrer ’12th Fail’, which did a decent box-office business, is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. The film has also bagged nominations in all major categories at the Filmfare Awards 2024.
