The Union Public Service Commission plans to release the UPSC Civil Service Examination 2024 notification on February 14
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will release the official notification for the UPSC Civil Service Examination (CSE) 2024 soon. The commission is scheduled to issue the UPSC CSE notification on February 14. Once the notification is out, candidates preparing for the UPSC CSE 2024 can check the age limit, eligibility criteria, exam structure, and other important dates. However, candidates should carefully read the official UPSC CSE 2024 notification before applying.
In May 2023, the UPSC 2024 exam calendar was released. As per the timetable, it mentioned that the CSE 2024 notification will be released on February 14 and the online application process is likely to commence on the same day. The deadline to register for the Civil Service Examination 2024 is March 5. Meanwhile, the Preliminary exam is scheduled to be held on May 26. In addition, the Civil Service Mains 2024 will be held on October 19.
UPSC CSE 2024: Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit: The minimum age requirement is 21 years while the upper age limit is 32 years.
Educational Qualification: A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a university recognised by the central or state governments of India, or from educational institutions authorised by Parliament or designated as universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or have an equivalent qualification.
UPSC CSE 2024: Application Fee
Candidates must pay an application fee of Rs 100, based on previous years’ patterns (excluding women, SC, ST, and Persons with Benchmark Disability candidates, who are exempt from fees).
UPSC CSE 2024: Exam Pattern
The Civil Services Examination will consist of two consecutive stages, as described in Appendix I Section-I:
1. Civil Service (Preliminary) Exam: This stage will be objective in nature, with the goal of selecting candidates for the Main Examination.
2. Civil Service (Main) Exam: This stage consists of both written and interview components and is intended to select candidates for the various Services and positions mentioned earlier.
In the multiple-choice portion of the exam, candidates must keep in mind that they will lose marks for giving the wrong answer to a question.
After passing the Civil Services (Main) Exam, candidates must select the services they wish to be considered for based on the options offered for that year’s exam. Before the examination’s personality tests (interviews) begin, they must complete this section of the online Detailed Application Form (DAF).
Candidates are allowed to take the Civil Services Examination up to six times. Those from the SC/ST/OBC and PwBD categories, who are otherwise eligible, will be allowed more attempts.
