Unknown woman found dead in duffel bag in Forest Park, Queens – Henry Club

Kew Gardens, Queens (WABC) – A quiet community in Queens is haunted by gruesome details about a woman found in a duffel bag half a mile away.

A woman, later identified as Orsolya Gaal, was found inside a duffel bag in Forest Park on Saturday morning.

Around 8:00 a.m., a man walking through the park noticed blood oozing from a duffel bag that was lying on the ground near the corner of Metropolitan Avenue and Forest Park Drive.

The man called 911 and police found a woman in the bag. Investigators say it was not dismembered but was placed in a bag and sealed.

Shortly after, police discovered a second crime scene at 72-24 Juno Street.

Police say that the blood found in the house matches the blood of the duffel bag.

Neighbors told eyewitnesses that a family of four lived in the house – a father, mother and two teenage sons aged 13 and 17.

Investigators say the body found may be that of the mother and have confirmed that one of the two sons was interrogated. He has since been released.

The neighbors are horrified.

“Yesterday we were in our backyard and she was doing regular stuff with her dog,” said neighbor John Blankenson. “We were supposed to go to the son’s bar mitzvah a few weeks ago, but the father got covid, so the bar mitzvah was cancelled.”

Neighbors say that it was a quiet family who had been living here for about 10 years.

There are currently no charges or arrests, but police are calling it a domestic situation.

No other details have been released at this time about the woman or the events leading up to her death. The investigation is still ongoing.
