Uddhav faction accuses EC of bias: Said Shinde faction got our letter copied, helped in choosing name-symbol

The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena has leveled allegations against the Election Commission (EC). Team Uddhav wrote a letter to the EC saying – The commission helped the Shinde faction in choosing the name and symbol of the party. He was shown our letter. Our and his two names turned out to be the same. Our application went first, yet we were given the second priority name, while Shinde got the first name mentioned in the letter.

The hearing is going on in the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court between Uddhav and Shinde faction regarding the right over Shiv Sena. Till the decision comes, the Election Commission has frozen the party’s symbol Arrow Command. Meanwhile, when the by-election was announced for the Andheri East seat of Mumbai in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde faction asked for the party’s name and symbol.

Shiv Sainiks will fight with torch and shield sword
The Election Commission has allotted new names and symbols to both the factions. The Shiv Sena led by Uddhav has been given the name Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray and a burning torch symbol, while the Eknath Shinde faction has been given the Balasahebunchi Shiv Sena name and shield sword symbol.

The Uddhav faction is angry on this. He wrote a letter to the Election Commission saying- Team Shinde has copied the options suggested by the Thackeray faction with the help of the commission before presenting its application. The commission first uploaded the letter of the Thackeray faction on the website, later removed. Such applications were not uploaded on the website. There is no letter from Shinde on the website, suggesting symbols and names.

Named Shinde as the first choice
The letter also alleged that the commission has named Team Shinde as their first choice, while Thackeray was not given the name and symbol of his first choice. Team Thackeray made a serious allegation that the election symbol and the letter allotting the name for him were uploaded on the Election Commission’s website without the photo of the symbol, while Shinde’s letter contained the symbol’s photo.

Uddhav faction gets relief from High Court, candidate gets permission to contest elections
The High Court has given a big relief to the candidate of Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray faction, Rituja Latte. Rituja is a clerk in BMC. He had resigned from his post to contest the election, which was not accepted. He petitioned the Bombay High Court, after which the court ordered the acceptance of his resignation.

Shivsena’s dispute started from June 20
The Shiv Sena controversy started on June 20, when 20 MLAs under Shinde’s leadership had moved to Guwahati via Surat. After this Shinde faction claimed to be with 39 out of 55 MLAs of Shiv Sena, after which Uddhav Thackeray resigned.
