JAIPUR/UDAIPUR: With prevailing western disturbances, hailstorm and rainfall were witnessed at various districts of Udaipur, City and Ajmer divisions on Tuesday.
Jaipur witnessed rain at several places on Tuesday night. High velocity winds, having a speed of 30-40 km/hour and lightning, brought change in weather in Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Pali, Rajsamand, Ajmer and other parts of the state.
Attributing hailstorm and rainfall in southern Rajasthan to active western disturbances, Jaipur Met office stated that similar conditions are likely to be witnessed at Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions in coming days.
Heay rainfall and hailstorm was reported from several places in the Udaipur district. Many tourists enjoyed the change in weather at the Kumbhalgarh where incessant rainfall and hailstorm lasted for more than one hour. “Many who were planning to complete their trip of Kumbhalgarh got stranded,” said an officer with district administration in Udaipur.
Similar conditions were witnessed in the Koa divisions, including districts like Kota, Jhalawar, Baran and Bundi. In the evening, dense clouds were seen at Kota and other nearby districts. Mild to moderate showers also took place in these districts. “Presently, western disturbances are seen in the southern Rajasthan. There are chances that it might move further and cover other part of the state in coming days,” said an officer with the Jaipur Met office.
Jaipur Met office stated that from Friday, mercury will take an upward swing as western disturbances would vanish, and no rainfall activity would be witnessed. In other parts, cloudy conditions though prevailed, it did not convert into rainfall. Mercury continued to take an upward swing in the western Rajasthan.
Dungarpur remained hottest in the state where a maximum temperature of 35.8°C was recorded. In rest other parts the maximum temperatures have crossed 30°C.
In its forecast Jaipur Met office stated that mild to moderate showers and hailstorm will occur at many places in the Udaipur, Kota and Ajmer divisions of the state in the next 24 hours.
