Two girls made fun of the national anthem in West Bengal’s Kolkata. A video of this has surfaced, in which both the girls are singing the national anthem with cigarettes in hand and making fun of it. Kolkata Police has registered a case on Sunday after the incident came to light.

Regarding this, many people, including the Calcutta High Court lawyer, demanded action against the girls, after which an FIR was registered against both the girls in the Barrackpore Cyber ​​Cell.

Police said both the girls have been questioned.

Senior police officer of Barrackpore said that the statements of the girls have been recorded. Both are minors. The probe agency is in touch with Facebook seeking the data. However, after the video went viral, there was a ruckus on social media, due to which the girls deleted the video.

What is the punishment for insulting the national anthem?
Insulting any national symbol is prohibited. Under this, violators can face imprisonment, fine or both. As stated in section 3 of the National Honors Act, 1971. Whoever willfully prevents the singing of the National Anthem or causes any disturbance or disrespect during the playing of the National Anthem, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years.
