What is the punishment for insulting the national anthem?
Insulting any national symbol is prohibited. Under this, violators can face imprisonment, fine or both. As stated in section 3 of the National Honors Act, 1971. Whoever willfully prevents the singing of the National Anthem or causes any disturbance or disrespect during the playing of the National Anthem, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years.
