Two BSF jawans were allegedly assaulted and their guns were stolen on Sunday in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district by Bangladeshi farmers who had slipped into India to grow their livestock, according to a statement issued by the authority, news agency PTI reported.
According to the report, the incident occurred at the Nirmalchar border outpost in the Ranitala police station area while two jawans from the 35th battalion were patrolling.

The jawans apprehended a group of Bangladeshi farmers who were crossing the border to grow their livestock on Indian farmers’ land, PTI reported.
Shortly after, hundreds of Bangladeshis stormed into India and attacked the jawans with sticks and ‘dah,’ a sharp-edged instrument commonly used in farming, according to the BSF statement.

Once the two soldiers were critically hurt, the Bangladeshis escaped, stealing their rifles.
When security officers learned of the event, they hurried to the scene and took the two jawans to the nearest hospital, according to the report.
The Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) was notified about the occurrence, and a flag meeting was requested so that the jawans’ weapons could be retrieved, as well as to prevent similar situations in the future.
The BSF has filed a complaint with the police station at Ranitala.

According to the statement, Indian farmers have been complained about crop theft and destruction by Bangladeshis.
