TUMAKURU: Two minor girls who had eloped with a minor boy and a youth after attending a funeral at Doddasaggare in Koratagere taluk of Tumakuru district were rescued a month later from a coffee estate in Belur of Hassan district.
According to police, a 16-year-old girl from Shivamogga, a 14-year-old girl from another village in Koratagere taluk and a 17-year-old boy from Nelamangala taluk of Bengaluru Rural district had visited Doddasaggare to attend a relative’s funeral on November 25. Sudhakar, 19, of Shivagang in Ramanagara district too had come to the funeral.
After attending the funeral, all the four went missing. A missing complaint was registered with Kolala police by the families of the girls and the boy. The 16-year-old girl and Sudhakar are cousins.
Kolala police were successful in tracing all the four to a coffee estate in Belur on Wednesday, where they were working as coffee pickers. The girls have been sent to Swadhara Kendra in Tumakuru and the minor boy to an observation home in Bengaluru. Sudhakar has been sent to jail in Tumakuru under the Pocso Act.
