Padma Vibhushan is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service. The awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day every year

The central government has decided to confer India’s second-highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan to former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu under the public affairs category.

Besides Naidu, the award will given to actors like Chiranjeevi and Vyjayantimala Bali, Bindeshwar Pathak (posthumous), and Padma Subrahmanyam.

Sharing his happiness on the microblogging site, X, Naidu posted that he is truly humble by the honor and dedicated this award to the farmers, women, youth, and all my fellow citizens of Bharat.

Padma Vibhushan is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service. The awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day every year.

For the year 2024, the President has approved the conferment of 132 Padma Awards including 2 duo cases (in a duo case, the Award is counted as one).

The list comprises 5 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan, and 110 Padma Shri Awards. 30 of the awardees are women and the list also includes 8 persons from the category of Foreigners / NRI / PIO / OCI and 9 Posthumous awardees.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended his warmest congratulations to the change makers of the society.

PM Narendra Modi has rationalized the Padma Awards ceremony to make it a platform to appreciate individuals setting pioneering examples for social change, he said.

Shah further said that the individuals conferred with the Padma Awards have not only created brilliant examples for others to follow but also have elevated the pride of the nation with their service.
