Traffic police warns revellers against drunk driving in Thane | Thane News – Times of India

THANE: The Thane traffic police have warned the revellers against drunk driving or flouting any other traffic offence on the eve of Holi.
The police said that two years after the pandemic, there could be a rise in the revelry and chances of drunk driving could also rise which could also result in accidents and loss of life on roads.
Hence, to take on the traffic offenders, the traffic police will be deployed in different parts of the city to catch the offenders.
“we have made the plan to net the offenders and hundreds of our traffic cops will fan out in the city to thwart the menace of drunk driving as well as to curb any nuisance on the eve of Holi. Along with drunk driving those riding triple seat and without helmet will also be caught, the police warned,” said Balasaheb Patilthe deputy commissioner of police (traffic)
The officer added, different locations of the city have been identified to keep surveillance on the streets.
The police officer added that along with the city areas, the focus will also be on the suburbs of Thane falling under Thane Police commissionerate which includes Bhivandi, Narpoli, Kalva, Mumbra, Diva, Kalyan Dombivali, Ulhasnagar uptill Ambernath.
“Ample of arrangements have been made to curb the menace on the streets. we urge the citizens to avert any kind of drunk driving and get into an embarrassing situation by breaking any kind of rules on streets on the eve of Holi celebrations ,” said a senior officer.
