TMC leader’s son arrested in Nadia rape case: Mamta raised questions on family’s claim; asked- how do you know she was raped

A 14-year-old girl has died after she was allegedly gangraped in Nadia, West Bengal. The girl’s family has blamed the son of a Trinamool Congress (TMC) panchayat member for this. TMC leader’s son has been arrested. At the same time, Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee raised questions on the family’s claim of gangrape regarding this incident.

Mamta said, ‘How do you know whether she was raped, was she pregnant, or was it a matter of love affair or was she ill.’ She said that if the couple is in a relationship then how can we stop them, it is not UP that I can do this in the name of love jihad.

Mamta handed over the responsibility of the case to the Children’s Commission
The CM said, ‘The girl died on the 5th and the police came to know on the 10th. If he died on 5th April and if there is a complaint, why didn’t they go to the police on the day of the incident? He cremated the dead body. From where will the police get the evidence?’ Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that the Children’s Commission will investigate rape and murder in this case.

Mamta said that the police have acted in the matter and made arrests irrespective of the political colour.

CM raised questions on demand for CBI inquiry
The girl’s family members on Monday appealed to the Kolkata High Court to conduct a CBI inquiry into the matter. Mamta objected to this. Mamta said that in how many cases of murders that take place in Delhi, UP, Rajasthan, Assam and Bihar, CBI investigates? How many leaders were arrested? Mamta further said, ‘We do not care how many conspiracies you create using CBI and ED. Don’t think that we are weak.

Family blames TMC leader’s son
Family members told that his daughter was a student of class 9th. According to the family, the girl had gone to the accused’s house on Monday (April 4) to attend his birthday party, but she returned home in a sick condition. Family members said that her daughter was bleeding profusely, had severe abdominal pain, and died before we could take her to the hospital. They claim that the accused and his friends gang-raped the girl. According to family members, 21-year-old son of TMC leader Braj Gopal Gola is the main accused in this case.

Four days after the incident, on Saturday (April 9), the family members of the girl lodged a complaint against the accused at Hanskhali police station. The victim’s family alleged that under pressure from the local TMC leader, the police forcibly performed the last rites of the girl without issuing her death certificate.
