Three of a family drown in rescue bid in Warangal | Hyderabad News – Times of India

NARSAMPET: Three members of a family, representing three generations, drowned in the Ralakunta Lake in an attempt to rescue one another. The incident occurred at Adavi Rangapur village of Duggondi mandal in Warangal district on Sunday.
The police identified the deceased as V Krishna Murthy (55), his son Naga Raju (30) and grandson Deepak (11). The victims were residents of Chinna Gurijala village in narasampet mandal of Warangal district.
While returning home from an agricultural field, they got into the lake to wash themselves. Deepak accidentally slipped into the lake while washing his feet. Krishna Murthy, who noticed Deepak crying for help, rushed to his rescue but he too accidentally slipped into the water body. When their family members, who were there, cried for help, Naga Raju went to the rescue of his father and son, but he too drowned in the lake after losing balance and slipping into it.
Duggondi police inspector K Suriya Prasad said that Krishna Murthy along with his son and grandson went to see his agricultural land in Adavi Rangapur village. Krishna Murthy had cultivated maize crop and after harvest filled it in gunny bags. After completion of work, Krishna Murthy along with his grandson went to the Ralakunta Lake to wash hands.
The family members told the villagers and the police about the accident. The cops visited the spot and with the help of local swimmers retrieved the bodies and shifted them to Narsampet government area hospital for autopsy. A case has been registered.
