Three children scorched by boiling oil in Hazaribagh: Making roti on the stove in a salty factory, the pan slipped from the hands of another worker

In Hazaribagh, three children were badly burnt in a factory for making namkeen and laddus. During the work, the boiling oil of the pan fell on all three. Soon after the incident, the children were admitted to Sadar Hospital from where they were referred to RIMS Ranchi. The incident is of Kumhar Toli of the district.

A child told that on Wednesday around 10:30 pm, sweets had been prepared. All three were making roti on the adjacent stove. Someone else was unloading the pan, during which the pan slipped from his hand and its oil fell on the three children. All three got burnt by this. He was taken to Sadar Hospital. After first aid, he was referred to RIMS.

These three children include 14-year-old Pintu Kumar, 12-year-old Ranjan Kumar and 15-year-old Nitesh Kumar Manjhi. Ranjan has studied till the fifth standard. The rest both have studied till 10th standard. Ranjan and Nitish are from Jamui. Whereas Pintu is from Jamshedpur. Ranjan told that he does not have a father. Due to poor financial condition of the house, he works in a factory.

The contractor is also from Jamui in Bihar. He makes laddus and namkeens and supplies them in the city. He is doing sweets business in Hazaribagh from last 3 years. Due to the threat of his contractor, the police case was not even written in the admission register of the hospital. Even the Bal Mitra police station did not get any idea.

When the matter escalated, Hazaribagh Superintendent of Police Manoj Ratan Chauth, taking cognizance of the incident, said, “The police is investigating the entire matter. How were child laborers working in the factory despite child labor being banned? It will be examined. The three children have been admitted to RIMS (Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences) hospital in Ranchi for treatment, where their condition is stable.

Many laborers of Bihar-Jharkhand work in the factory
Work in the factory increased during the festival. Many laborers from different areas of Bihar and Jharkhand work in this factory. In Ashram Nagar, Hazaribagh Kumhar Toli, the contractor used to work in making sweets living in a rented house. About 15 to 20 people lived there. No one is in that house since the incident. Ranjan told that 5 child laborers of Bihar were kept in this house.
