A huge number of candidates appear for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination every year. Out of which, only a few get selected in the final round. Their success story becomes an inspiration for many, who are aspiring to clear the exam. Recently, the success story of IAS officer Ishwarya Ramanathan has been garnering everyone’s attention. As per reports, she had cleared UPSC twice, that too at the age of 24. Today, let us know about her inspiring journey.

According to reports, Ishwarya Ramanathan is one of the youngest IAS officers in the country. She had cleared the 2019 UPSC exam with AIR 47. She was 24 years old at that time. Currently, she is the Sub-Collector, SDM, in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu.

In a media interaction, Ishwarya shared that becoming an IAS was her childhood dream. Her mother had inspired her for this. Ishwarya’s mother got married at a very young age. When Ishwarya was in college, her mother got a government job. She wanted her daughter to become a collector. This way, she always inspired Ishwarya to become an IAS and supported her.

Ishwarya is a resident of the coastal district of Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu. Since childhood, she has seen many natural disasters like floods, cyclones, and heavy rains. The devastation of the tsunami in 2004 changed her life. During this time, Ishwarya saw the work of collector Gagandeep Singh Bedi, and was very impressed by him.

Ishwarya obtained her engineering degree from Anna University, Chennai, in 2017. She started preparing for the UPSC exam during his college days. She also took UPSC coaching to become an IAS. Ishwarya cleared the UPSC exam in her very first attempt and ranked 630. Due to this, she got the post of Railway Accounts Service. Ishwarya didn’t want to pursue that. She decided to appear for the UPSC Civil Services Examination for the second time in the year 2019. This time she cracked the UPSC exam with AIR 47 rank. This way, she succeeded in becoming an IAS in her second attempt.
