thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reports 809 new Covid cases; TPR at 4.38% | Thiruvananthapuram News – Times of India

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : The state reported 809 cases from 18,467 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate stands at 4.38%.
With seven more deaths occurring in the past few days being recorded as Covid deaths and 71 deaths added from the appeals received, the death toll has climbed to 66,886.
Total active cases are 7,980, of which 10.4% of people are admitted either in hospitals or other treatment centres. At the same time, 1,597 patients have recovered from the disease.
Of the new cases, 769 got infected through local contacts and source of infection for 32 is unknown. Eight health care workers tested positive. Ernakulam reported the maximum cases – 141, followed by Thiruvananthapuram (111), Kollam (84), Kottayam (83), Idukki (69), Kozhikode (56), Thrissur (55), Pathanamthitta (43), Kannur (37), Palakkad (33), Alappuzha (32), Malappuram (29), Wayanad (28), and Kasaragod (8).
The district-wise breakup of patients who tested negative is as follows – Ernakulam (313), Thiruvananthapuram (257), Kottayam (209), Idukki (207), Thrissur (141), Kollam (95), Kannur (82), Pathanamthitta (68), Wayanad (63), Alappuzha (42), Malappuram (44), Palakkad (34), Kasaragod (25) and Kozhikode (17).
There are 24,808 persons presently under observation in various districts, of which 23,960 are at home/institutional quarantine centres and 848 are in isolation at hospitals.
