One of the biggest tech businesses in the nation, Wipro, was taken over by Frenchman Thierry Delaporte in 2020.

Wipro CEO Thierry Delaporte has emerged as the highest-paid CEO in India. This was revealed following the company’s disclosure of his compensation package in filings for the 2023 fiscal year. Delaporte received a salary of about Rs 82 crore for this fiscal year, surpassing the earnings of senior executives from competing IT giants, HCL Technologies and TCS. The salary of the CEO of any Indian IT company is nowhere near close to this. In 2020, one of the biggest tech businesses in the nation, Wipro, was taken over by Frenchman Thierry Delaporte. The company is valued at around Rs 93,400 crore on the market. Delaporte, who is 56 years old, has worked in the international IT industry for thirty years. He held the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at the French IT giant Capgemini before joining Wipro. Delaporte received his degree in Economics and Finance from the Paris Public University of Sciences. In 1992, he began working at Arthur Andersen & Company as an auditor. He began working with Capgemini in 1995 and remained there for 25 years.

Thierry Delaporte’s compensation rose by 3.3% in the fiscal year 2023 compared to the fiscal year 2022, according to a Trendlyne analysis. In FY23, Wipro’s sales increased by 14% over the previous year, but its net profit decreased by 7.2%. Delaporte receives compensation equal to 0.1% of the company’s FY23 sales.

In an interview with Forbes earlier, he recalled discussing the CEO’s responsibilities with Azim Premji, the founder and chairman of Wipro. Thierry Delaporte mentioned that the chairman and CEO had an “incredibly critical” connection. Thierry told the publication, “Azim is an incredible human, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, all at the same time. I spoke with Rishad Premji, the new chairman and Azim’s son, for three or four hours. I had the impression that we were talking the same language and had similar priorities and values when we first met. There was undoubtedly a shared goal between us. My perspective on my future was drastically altered by that, and I accepted the CEO position.”

Sandeep Kalra, Executive Director and CEO of Persistent Systems, is said to receive the second highest remuneration. The company paid him a total of Rs 61.7 crore.
