The police faced obstacles from the Trinamool Congress to arrest the accused on the orders of the court

Allegations of obstruction of police work against the Trinamool are not new. Mamata Banerjee brought the miscreants from Bhabanipur police station while sitting in the chair of the Chief Minister. The video of Birbhum district Trinamool president Anubrat Mandal threatening the police was spread over the phone. This time, the policemen faced obstacles from the grassroots to arrest the accused on the order of the court. The incident took place at Chapali village in Minakhan police station area of Basirhat sub-division of North 24 Parganas

Minakhan police officers went there on Wednesday night to arrest an accused named Saifuddin Mollah on a court order. Allegedly, at that time they were stopped by Ashraful Islam Laskar, President of Minakhan Block Trinamool Chhatra Parishad, Abdul Hamid Mollah, Deputy Chief of Chapali Gram Panchayat and Amirul Mollah, Trinamool activist. They got into an argument with the police. After that, the police officers arrested everyone and presented them in the court. Among them, the judge ordered five days police custody of Ashraful and Amirul. The rest have been remanded in custody.

Denying the responsibility of the accused, local youth grassroots leader Shamik Roy said, “The law will follow the law. The Chief Minister has asked the police to take action irrespective of party affiliation. If the allegation is true, the police will take action.

On the other hand, BJP district president Tapash Ghosh said, “These police jump in whenever they see the BJP’s program. And the grassroots are jumping on the police. There is no rule of law in Basirhat. People’s lives and property are not protected.
