The Bombay High Court has told Netflix to show The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth to the CBI before deciding on a stay to its release.

The Bombay High Court has advised Netflix to show a preview of the series to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) before their request for a stay order on the release of the documentary series about Indrani Mukerjea, who is accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, is considered. The CBI has agreed to the suggestion, according to Bar & Bench. The hearing for the application is scheduled for February 29. Netflix has said that it will not air the series until the hearing date.

That apart, the screening of The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth scheduled for tomorrow has been halted. The High Court directed Netflix to arrange a special screening for the court, CBI officers and lawyers. The hearing took place before Justice Revathi Mohite-Dere and Justice Manjush Deshpande. Another hearing is set to take place in the High Court on February 29. The CBI has raised objections, noting that the web series could potentially impact the case.

The trailer of the series was released earlier in February. The trailer explores the scandalous case that rocked the nation, interviewing all parties involved, including Indrani. The docu-series includes interviews of Indrani Mukerjea, her children, journalists and legal professionals, shedding light on dysfunctional family dynamics and motivations. It even confronts her with the question of whether she truly killed her daughter, to which she responds, “What a stupid question”. Check out the trailer here:
