The Game Awards 2023 nominees across different categories are finally out, with Remedy’s Alan Wake 2, and Larian’s Baldur’s Gate 3 receiving most nominations.
We finally know the nominees for The Game Awards, which will take place on December 7, 2023. If you’re not familiar with these awards, they are like the Grammys or the Oscars, but for video games.
Simply put, The Game Awards is a big annual event that celebrates games, culminating in the coveted ‘Game of the Year’ announcement. This year, Larian’s Baldur’s Gate 3 and Remedy’s Alan Wake 2 have received the most nominations across various categories.
Speaking of nominees, for ‘Game of the Year,’ Baldur’s Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 are joined by Sony’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. Wonder and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom, and Capcom’s critically acclaimed remake of Resident Evil 4. The same set of games is nominated for the Best Game Direction category, minus Resident Evil 4.
Moreover, there is also a ‘Best Adaptation’ category showcasing the best from movies and TV series based on video games. This year, Castlevania: Nocturne on Netflix, Gran Turismo by PlayStation Productions, The Last of Us by PlayStation Productions, The Super Mario Bros. Movie by Nintendo, and Twisted Metal by PlayStation Productions have been nominated.
Another notable category is ‘Best Narrative,’ wherein Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Final Fantasy XVI, and Alan Wake 2 have been nominated.
