There was snowfall in Badrinath Dham on Thursday.
The portals of Badrinath opened on Thursday morning. On the other hand, there was snowfall in Kedarnath and Badrinath on Thursday. The administration has appealed to the pilgrims to plan their journey keeping in view the weather and remain alert. The Uttarakhand administration has prepared SOPs in nine different languages for the pilgrims visiting Char Dham Yatra. It tells what to do when the weather turns bad.
Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar said that there is a weather alert for Badrinath and Kedarnath till May 1. It may be that till May 1, the journey has to be stopped in between. Plan your trip accordingly.
Devotees celebrate the opening of the doors of Badrinath Dham.
The first puja has been performed in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the morning at Badrinath, the fourth Dham of the Chardham Yatra. Badrinath Dham has been decorated with 15 quintals of marigold flowers on the occasion of the opening of the doors. It is snowing outside Badrinath Dham since morning. Even after this, hundreds of devotees continued to gather outside the shrine. During this, the army band kept playing tunes and people raised slogans of Jai Badri Vishal. Earlier, the throne of Adiguru Shankaracharya had left for Pandukeshwar from Narasimha temple.
With the opening of the doors of the Badrinath Temple, people have started reaching Taptakund, Narad Kund, Shesh Netra Jheel, Neelkanth Shikhar, Urvashi Temple, Mata Murti Temple, considered the country’s first village, Bhimpul.

As soon as the doors of the temple opened, devotees raised their hands in the air and shouted Jai Badrinath and started dancing in joy.
The army band played the tunes of several religious songs on the occasion.
Adiguru Shankaracharya’s throne left for Pandukeshwar from the Narasimha temple before the doors of Badrinath were opened.
According to DGP Ashok Kumar, the yatra is going on in an orderly manner. An appeal has been made to the devotees to cooperate with the administration.
A gold canopy and pitcher donated by a devotee to the Kedarnath temple have been installed in the temple.
More than 8 thousand devotees visited Kedarnath
A large number of pilgrims have started arriving at Kedarnath Dham.
Before this, on April 25, the doors of Kedarnath Dham were opened at 6.20 am. Jagadguru Rawal Bhim Shankar Ling Shivacharya, the chief priest of the temple, opened the doors of the temple. The temple was decorated with 20 quintals of flowers. Thousands of pilgrims going to the temple were stopped from proceeding due to bad weather.
However, on the first day more than 8 thousand devotees had darshan of Baba. Even after minus 6 degree temperature, there were long queues outside the temple since 4 am for darshan.
Registration closed till April 30 to go to Kedarnath
The Uttarakhand government has stopped the registration of pilgrims for the Kedarnath Dham Yatra till April 30 in view of the heavy snowfall on the pedestrian route to Kedarnath and the meteorological department’s warning. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy snowfall in Kedarnath Dham Marg and Dham. Bad weather is expected in Kedarghati for the next one week.
In view of the avalanche warning, the district administration is taking necessary action. Kedarnath Dham received intermittent rain and snowfall on Sunday. The state government has issued an advisory for the pilgrims. Yatris have been told to keep warm clothes and essential items with them before going to the Dham.
66 lakh people reached Badrinath in last 7 years
In the year 2016, 6,54,355, 9,20,466 in the year 2017, 10,48,051 in the year 2018, 12,44,993 people had reached Badrinath in the year 2019. In the years 2020 and 2021, only 1,55,055 and 1,97,997 pilgrims could reach. At the same time, last year in 2022, after overcoming the Corona epidemic, 17,63,549 devotees reached Badrinath Dham. Overall, 66 lakh people had reached Badrinath Dham in the last 7 years.
