‘I don’t want any weekly off nor any holiday’ I will keep working for 365 days. Such an affidavit has been given to the HRTC management by the conductor of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) Jogendra Thakur, who has been working continuously for 17 years without taking any leave.

Conductor Jogendra Thakur has not taken any leave since joining HRTC on June 4, 2005. When his records were checked at HRTC Nahan Depot, it was found that he had not taken a single leave till date.

Took a vow after an accident, my life for service
HRTC conductor Jogendra Thakur says that on 18 November 2000, a private bus met with an accident on the Koti-Dhiman route. 14 riders died in this. Jogendra Thakur was also traveling in this bus, but his life was saved. At the same time he thought that he would become a bus conductor and work without leave for the rest of his life. Ever since he was recruited as a conductor in 2005, he has been fulfilling this promise he made to himself.

Sukhram, the bus stand in-charge of Nahan Depot, says that we have records, according to which conductor Jogendra Thakur has not taken any leave. He has not gone on leave even once in 17 years. We take affidavits from time to time for not taking leave from them. First affidavit was taken in 2020. Now 335 weekly offs have been completed and affidavit was taken again on 19 October 2022.

Conductor Jogendra Thakur has been awarded with a citation for providing better services by the Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation. Corporation management also gives their example to other employees for providing better services on the route and working under discipline.
