Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is badly beaten in Himachal Pradesh. Along with the announcement of all the free services, on the lines of Punjab, AAP’s broom which came out for cleaning in Himachal too gasped while climbing the mountain. AAP, which registered record victories in Delhi and Punjab, could not even open its account in Himachal.
Alam is that AAP candidates will not be able to save even their deposits on any seat, whereas AAP had promised to give a third option to the people of the state. Even before AAP, about 9 national and regional parties in Himachal have tried to give third option.
But, so far no one has got success, this is because of the faith of the people of Himachal Pradesh on the two major parties, Congress and BJP. The politics here remains with the Congress for five years and the BJP for five years.
Shameful defeat of AAP
AAP had fielded candidates for all 68 seats in Himachal Pradesh. The Aam Aadmi Party has suffered a humiliating defeat on all the seats. The reason for this is believed to be the surrender of arms by AAP in the middle of the elections.
AAP’s clan grew rapidly after the Punjab result
The truth is that in March and April this year, the Congress had become inactive in the state, then a direct contest of the BJP with the AAP was being considered, but as the election campaign progressed. AAP kept getting weaker on the field. The AAP had put Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain in charge of the Himachal elections. By the time Satyendar Jain took over, the AAP was on the upswing.
AAP on backfoot after Satyendar Jain’s arrest
AAP suddenly came on the backfoot after the arrest of Satyendar Jain. After this Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann also did not give full time for Himachal and turned away from the state. Due to this, AAP started getting beaten even before voting. Arvind Kejriwal’s focus also remained in Gujarat.
9 political parties defeated
Before AAP in Himachal, 9 different political parties have tried to give third option. But everyone failed. In these Trinamool Congress (TMC), Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Shiv Sena, National Congress Party (NCP), Janata Dal, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), CPI(M), CPI, Himachal Lokhit Party (HILOPA) Many other parties including , Himachal Vikas Congress (Havikan) have tried their luck, but the people here have rejected these parties badly.
Havikan removed Congress from power
Former Union Minister trapped in corruption charges. Pandit Sukh Ram, after leaving the Congress, formed the Himachal Vikas Congress in 1998 and contested in all 68 assembly constituencies. Then, except for 4 seats in Mandi district and 1 seat in Lahaul-Spiti, the voters completely rejected Hivikan. By winning 5 seats, the Havikan Congress was definitely successful in keeping the Congress party out of power, but by supporting the BJP, Dhumal played an important role in forming the government. In 2003, Havikan was completely rejected by the voters.
Maheshwar Singh has also made Hilopa
Former MP Maheshwar Singh also formed the Himachal Lokhit Party in the 2012 assembly elections after relations with the BJP soured. Then Hilopa also contested assembly elections in all constituencies, but only Maheshwar Singh was able to win the election.
Mahendra Singh Thakur won from LJP
Ram Vilas Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) also tried to establish its roots in Himachal. Then except Mahendra Singh Thakur, no other candidate could even save his deposit.
