Twice this week, bombs were recovered in two different areas of Maldar. According to locals, the bomb-laden bag was not in a secluded place. The bag was placed right next to a resident’s house. The locals became suspicious when they saw the abandoned bag lying like this. It is learned that the bomb was recovered from the house of a local resident named Sajal Mandal. When he saw a small ball-shaped bomb in the distance, he first informed his neighbors. Then they informed the police.
Just two days before the Maldar incident, two bags full of bombs were recovered from Chanchal corn field. Police have become more active after the bomb was recovered in the area of Kaliachak right after that. Police are trying to find out if the same person or a gang is involved in the incident. However, no arrests have been made so far. Incidentally, four people were injured in a parcel bomb blast at Hematabad in North Dinajpur on Friday, the day before the incident. They are undergoing treatment at Raiganj Medical College in critical condition.
