Thane: Man commits suicide with daughter 7 months after wife, cites cop demands | Thane News – Times of India

Vikas Kedare, who worked in marketing with a multinational, posted a two-page suicide note on a social media site

KALYAN: A 35-year-old man, recently released on bail after his wife killed herself last year, committed suicide along with their 11-year-old daughter on Tuesday in their Asangaon home in Thane district.
Vikas Kedare, who worked in marketing with a multinational, posted a two-page suicide note on a social media site, claiming he was innocent and accusing police sub inspector R S Shirsagar from Shahapur police station of harassing him and demanding money.
After reading his note on Facebook around 5pm on Tuesday, Vikas’ relatives alerted the local residents and cops. They rushed to the house, but both were dead by that time. Vikas, his daughter and his mother were staying at his sister’s home in Ulhasnagar for some time. On Tuesday afternoon, he made an excuse about taking the girl out and came to his Asangaon house. He hanged the daughter before hanging himself, suspect the police.
The relatives refused to accept the bodies and conduct the last rites till action was taken against Shirsagar. They relented after Navnath Dhavale, deputy superintendent of police, Thane rural, assured them of action.
“Police officer Shirsagar continued harassing my son for money in some excuse or the other before his arrest and after he came home on bail. I want action against him,” said Vikas’ mother.
Vikas used to live with his wife Monali, daughter Arya and his mother. His life turned upside down after Monali committed suicide by taking poison at home on August 15 last year. Monali’s family registered a case of abetment to suicide against Vikas and his mother and both were arrested. His mother got bail earlier.
In his suicide note, Vikas claimed he was innocent and did not understand why his wife ended her life and also why her family blamed him for the tragedy. The trauma he had faced for seven months was too much to bear and so he had decided to end his life with his daughter.
Shivaji Ragade, a family friend, detailed how Shirsagar harassed Vikas. “After Vikas’ arrest, Shirsagar illegally kept two of his laptops and did not show them on record. When Vikas asked for them as they belonged to his company, Shirsagar started demanding money,” said Ragade, adding: “Vikas has mentioned his trauma at the hands of Shirsagar and we want strict action against him or he will harass others in future.”
