Ankita (17) was cremated on Monday morning in Dumka, Jharkhand. His grandfather lit him. His last journey was taken out under tight security. When the news of his death came on Sunday morning, there was tension in Dumka. Shops and markets were closed. Angry people took to the streets and started raising slogans against the district administration.
There is anger over Ankita’s death in Dumka. People are demanding the hanging of the accused.
The protesters blocked the Dumka-Bhagalpur road for hours. Apart from VHP, Bajrang Dal, BJP, a large number of people were present in this protest. People also closed the market. Seeing the tense situation, the administration has imposed Section 144 in the area.
The situation remained the same on Monday morning as well. There was a demand to hang the accused Shahrukh. Ankita succumbed to her injuries in Ranchi’s RIMS after fighting for 5 days. He breathed his last late on Saturday night.
Heavy police force has been deployed in Dumka to handle the situation.

The funeral took place under the supervision of the officers
The last journey left from Ankita’s house in Jaruadih on Monday morning. Thousands of people attended the last journey. District Deputy Development Commissioner Karan Satyarthi, SDM Maheshwar Mahto should keep an eye on the whole time. Hundreds of women and police forces have been deployed to ensure that there is no untoward incident. Various social organizations have called a Dumka bandh in protest against the incident.

Shahrukh had set it on fire by pouring petrol from the window.
On August 23, Ankita was sleeping in her house in Dumka’s Jaruwadih locality. Then at around 5 pm, Shahrukh Hussain, a neighbor, poured petrol from the window and set it on fire. The family took him to Phoolo Jhano Medical College Hospital in Dumka. After first aid, RIMS was referred.
People are angry over Ankita’s death. Shops remained closed in Dumka today.
Laughing in police custody… the accused does not regret
The accused was seen laughing in police custody. He has no remorse for what he did. When the police was arresting the accused, he was seen laughing. Even from his body language, it did not seem that he had any kind of regret.

Shahrukh was troubling for 2 years
Shahrukh was harassing Ankita for 2 years. Ankita had also complained about this to her father, but she did not take further steps due to fear of slander in the society. After this, when Shahrukh started troubling more, he went to complain to the police, but Shahrukh’s elder brother apologized. And said that he would no longer do this. After a few days of calm, his movements started again. For the last 15 days, he was troubling Ankita too much.
Ankita narrated the whole incident a few hours before her death.
Ankita, who was admitted to the hospital, had told the full story of the brutality that happened to her just hours before her death. He told that the incident happened around 5 am on August 23. I was sleeping in my room, suddenly I got scared seeing the flames near the window of the room. When I opened the window, I saw Shahrukh Hussain of the locality running towards my house with a can of petrol in his hand. By then the fire had started in my body as well and I was feeling very burning.
Before death, Ankita narrated her ordeal in front of Executive Magistrate Chandrajit Singh and SDPO Noor Mustafa.
Shahrukh used to bluff girls
Ankita said, ‘All I could see was that Shahrukh was running with a can of petrol in his hand, wearing a blue T-shirt. It was the same Shahrukh who was troubling me for the last 10-15 days. Everyone in the locality knew him as a stray type of boy. His job was only to harass the girls and make them move around by taking their bluff.
Follows while going to school and tuition
Ankita said in her statement before her death that she was following me for the last ten-fifteen days. Whenever I went for school or tuition, he would follow me. Although, I never took his actions seriously, but he had juggled my mobile number from somewhere. After that, calling me often and pressurizing me to be friends with me.
Ankita struggled with death for five days. He breathed his last late on Sunday night.
threatened to kill the family
According to Ankita, Shahrukh had also threatened that if I did not listen to him, he would kill me and my family members. I had anticipated his actions, but could not understand that this would happen to me. On the night of 22 August, he threatened me that he would kill me if I did not listen to him. When I told this to my father, he said that the matter would be resolved after morning. No one could find a solution to this problem. On the morning of August 23, Shahrukh burnt me by spraying petrol.
