Supreme Court live streaming copyright case: Hearing on April 10; The court had asked – what methods can be adopted if there is no technical infrastructure

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Monday a plea seeking a direction to enter into a special arrangement with YouTube to protect copyright of live streamed proceedings as per a 2018 judgement.

A bench of CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice PS Narasimha and Justice JB Pardiwala will hear the petition, according to the April 10 case list uploaded on the court’s official website.

The court had said – it is very easy to criticize
One of the petitioners had contended that the court’s registry had not followed the directions given in the 2018 judgment on live streaming of the proceedings. On this, the Supreme Court, while hearing the matter on January 2, had said that it is very easy to criticize someone or throw stones at someone.

The bench appointed former RSS ideologue K.K. N Govindacharya had asked advocate Virag Gupta that at a time when the National Informatics Center (NIC) is saying that it does not have adequate technical infrastructure to live stream court proceedings without third party applications What are the methods that can be adopted for live-streaming.
