Summer in Jharkhand: Three cities received the lowest rainfall of the decade in March, there will be no relief from humidity for the next five days

This time in March itself, the attitude of Suryadev has become tense. The heat has broken the 44-year record in March. Scientists at Ranchi’s Meteorological Center have said that three cities of Jharkhand have recorded the lowest rainfall of the decade in March. The number of rainy days in March has declined in three cities of Jharkhand in the past decade, he said. This should be attributed to global warming or change in weather patterns. The Meteorological Department said on Saturday that there is hardly any respite from the humid weather for at least the next five days.

Meteorologists said that analysis of rainfall in three cities Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Daltonganj shows that these places have recorded the least number of days of rain in March this year. According to the data provided by the Meteorological Department, Ranchi received only two days of rain in March this year, while Jamshedpur and Daltonganj received only one rain each in the entire month. This is the lowest since 2013.

As per the data provided by Meteorological Center of Ranchi, Ranchi had five rainy days in March 2021, 13 days in 2020 March, seven in 2019 March, three in 2018 March, five in 2017 March, 11 in 2016 March, 2015. Six days were recorded in March, five in 2014 March and seven in 2013 March. Similarly, Jamshedpur received four rains in March 2021, nine in March 2020, five in March 2019, four in March 2018, five in March 2017, four in March 2016, six in March 2015, seven in March 2014 and five in March 2013. days were recorded. A similar trend was observed in Daltonganj as well.

Jharkhand has three IMD observatories at Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Daltonganj. Ranchi meteorological station scientist SC Mandal said the observatory in Ranchi generally covers the central part of Jharkhand, while the Jamshedpur and Daltonganj observatories cover the southern and north-west parts of the state respectively. SC Mandal said that we also have temporary observatories in Bokaro and Chaibasa.

Mandal said that the negligible arrival of moisture from the Bay of Bengal has been the main reason behind the less rainy days in March this year. The reasons for this are also the absence of an active western disturbance in the month and the absence of any major system. He said that for most of the month low-lying westerly or north-westerly dry winds were observed and rarely easterly winds. Mandal said that if we go to the root cause, then global warming and change in weather patterns cannot be ruled out behind the reduced number of rainy days in March. Heat wave conditions persisted in the state even in March this year. Daltonganj recorded the highest temperature of the decade at 42.9 degree Celsius on March 31.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department said on Saturday that there is hardly any respite from the humid weather for at least the next five days. The Meteorological Department said that there is no possibility of any major change in the maximum temperature for five days. Heat wave conditions are likely over Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Latehar, Giridih and Simdega till April 4.

Daltonganj in Jharkhand recorded a temperature of 43.4 degrees Celsius, the highest in the state in the last 24 hours. During this, Ranchi recorded a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius, while Jamshedpur recorded a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius.
