The Supreme Court on Tuesday reprimanded Sukesh Chandrasekhar for his plea seeking extension of meeting time with lawyers in jail. The court said that you give us the names of the lawyers, we will ask the jail authorities to allow your lawyers to stay in the jail.

A bench of Justices Ajay Rastogi and Bela M Trivedi said that you are already meeting lawyers as per jail rules. What kind of things are you talking about in court? Do you want privileges in prison?

What arguments were given in the court?
Chandrashekhar’s lawyer- There are 28 cases pending against my client in six cities. More than 10 lawyers are working in these cases. As per the jail rules, he is being given only 30 minutes twice a week to meet the lawyers, which is not enough. My client’s rights are being violated.

Supreme Court- The demand made by the petitioner cannot be allowed. The prisoner may be allowed to meet his relatives or friends twice a week for 30 minutes.

In December 2022, Sukesh Chandrasekhar had accused Tihar Jail DG Sandeep Goyal of extorting more than Rs 12 crore by intimidation.  Delhi Police had registered a case against 82 officers in this matter.

Hearing in 4 crore fraud case adjourned till July 13
On the other hand, the petition filed against Sukesh in the Rs 4 crore fraud case was heard on Tuesday. ED said that the copy of the charge sheet and other documents have been given to the accused. At the same time, Sukesh Chandrasekhar’s lawyer has sought time to examine the documents. The next hearing in the matter will be on July 13.

Japna Singh, a resident of Rajokri, had accused Sukesh of cheating him of Rs 4 crore. The woman alleges that Sukesh had called Japna from a landline number in 2021 and introduced himself as the law secretary. Sukesh had extorted Rs 4 crore from her, citing the safety of her husband Malvinder Singh, lodged in Tihar Jail.

Who is Sukesh Chandrasekhar?
Sukesh Chandrasekhar is a resident of Bangalore, Karnataka. It is said that he started duping people at the age of 17 to live a lavish lifestyle. After swindling in Bengaluru, he targeted people in Chennai and other cities as well. From top politicians, businessmen to Bollywood celebrities have been his targets.

Sukesh Chandrasekhar is lodged in Mandoli jail since 2017. He was also shifted to Tihar in between. In the year 2022, the ED filed a charge sheet against Sukesh Chandrasekhar and others in a Rs 200 crore money laundering case. According to the allegation, Sukesh had extorted money from the wife of a businessman while serving his sentence in Tihar Jail.

ED has made Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi witnesses in this extortion case, so the investigating agency keeps calling them for questioning again and again. Apart from Jacqueline and Nora, Sukesh has also tried to trap Chahat Khanna and Nikki Tamboli in his trap. Although all these actresses have recorded their statement against Sukesh. Everyone is of the same opinion that Sukesh has cheated them.
