13 September 1992, The railway gate on the Bhangel road in Ghaziabad had collapsed. Former MLA Mahendra Singh Bhati’s car was parked near the gate. Then a car came from behind. Four people got down with weapons and started firing. Mahendra Singh and Uday Prakash who was sitting with him were murdered.

CBI started investigation. On 15 February 2015, DP Yadav was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. Exactly 6 years later, on November 10, 2021, the Nainital High Court reversed the decision and acquitted the DP. This DP Yadav is not an ordinary person but he is a Bahubali who came out to sell milk from home and became the biggest liquor mafia of the country. The parties called and made MLA-MPs and ministers. But this time even after filing nomination, the form was withdrawn. In today’s Bahubali, we tell that the full story of Dharampal Yadav aka DP Yadav… but before that you can take part in the survey given below on this issue…

Became a liquor mafia by selling milk
Sharfabad village is near Noida Sector 18. DP Yadav was born here on 25 July 1948. There was a family of 12 people. Apart from parents, 7 brothers and 3 sisters. Father used to run a dairy in Jagdish Nagar. Dharampal used to take milk from the same dairy to sell it in Delhi by bicycle. It was here that he met liquor businessman Babu Kishan Lal. From here, DP Yadav kept a bicycle tied to the milk tank on the side and got involved in the liquor business.

DP used to sell milk in his initial days but after few days started doing liquor business.

Branded labels used to be used on raw liquor
Raw liquor used to come from Jodhpur in Rajasthan and it would be labeled as branded in Delhi. It would have been supplied in Haryana, UP and Delhi. Dharampal Yadav, a milk seller, became rich. It is said that from here instead of telling his name as Dharampal Yadav, he started telling DP Yadav. By 1990, the DP had a lot of wealth. And the desire to become honorable woke up.

350 people died after drinking alcohol in 1990
It is the early 1990s. In Haryana, about 350 people died after buying liquor from a DP contract. There was a stir from the state government to the central government. The inquiry was set up. Haryana Police made DP Yadav an accused and filed a charge sheet. People tell that by this time DP Yadav had become so much recognized among political parties and leaders that nothing happened to him in this matter.

Entry into politics through Congress
The Mahendra Singh Bhati we have talked about at the beginning of the story was DP Yadav’s political mentor. In the 80s, he was the MLA of Dadri. He explained politics to DP Yadav and made him a leader. However, before this, Congress’s Balram Singh Yadav had made DP the Backward Class President of Ghaziabad district. But the real politics was taught by Mahendra Singh Bhati and made DP the block chief from Bisrakh.

Mahendra Singh Bhati taught politics to DP Yadav and later he was accused of killing him. We got this photo from the website of Chetna Manch.

Mulayam Singh needed DP
In 1989, Mulayam Singh formed the Samajwadi Party after separating from the Janata Dal. They needed good leaders as well as people with money. DP Yadav was best suited for this. He joined SP. The party made him general secretary. In 1992, his political mentor Mahendra Singh Bhati was assassinated. DP’s hand was told in the murder. Even after this, Mulayam Singh gave him ticket in 1993 and he won from Bulandshahr and became MLA.

Disillusioned with SP and went to BSP
After becoming MLA, the list of crimes of DP Yadav started getting longer. DP’s name cropped up in nine murders one after the other. Several cases of dacoity, kidnapping and extortion were registered. Name figured in TADA and Gangster Act. The total number of cases reached 25. SP went on the back foot. Mulayam Singh Yadav started shunning DP Yadav. DP felt it bad and left the party.

DPs were made accused in different cases, but every time they came out on bail.

BSP called and made MP
After disillusionment with SP, DP Yadav joined BSP. BSP fielded him in 1996 Lok Sabha elections from Sambhal seat. He won and became an MP for the first time. After two years the disillusionment with the party fell apart. Became a Rajya Sabha MP in 1998 as an independent candidate. For this the BJP supported him. After DP SP-BSP, now the BJP had started becoming special.

Welcome to BJP
After becoming MLA and MP, DP started working on his image. In the website of the Lok Sabha, he was told from the family of freedom fighters. Rajya Sabha website said that DP has been a good player of National Volleyball and Kabaddi. He was even described as the head of the Yadav Samaj Reform Sabha. For these reasons, he was openly supported by the BJP and in 2004 he was made an MP through the Rajya Sabha, but after a few days he was thrown out of the party.

formed a new party
DP Yadav did not stay in any party for long. The main reason for this is said to be their rights. This is the reason that when he became honorable from all the parties, he formed a party of his own in 2007. Named National Parivartan Dal. Candidates fielded about a dozen seats but won only two seats. He himself won the Sahaswan seat by just 109 votes and his wife Umlesh Yadav was successful in winning the Bisauli seat. In 2011, when his wife Umlesh could not tell the Election Commission about the election expenses, her membership was cancelled.

Lived together even after divorce from wife
According to the report of a reputed website, the relationship between DP Yadav and his wife Umlesh was not good. According to the certificate submitted by Umlesh to the Election Commission, he and DP Yadav got divorced in 1989 in the CJM court in Ghaziabad.

The chain of defeat that started did not end
In 2009 DP joined BSP and contested against Dharmendra Yadav, nephew of Mulayam Singh Yadav in Badaun seat but lost. Left BSP in 2012. Akhilesh reached out to Yadav to join the SP. Akhilesh refused to join the party. He fielded candidates from his party on many seats but lost all. In 2014, when he appeared on a stage with Amit Shah, there was speculation that he would go to the BJP but the BJP did not include him in the party. He fought on his party ticket from Sambhal seat but could not win.

DP Yadav and Amit Shah were seen together on the same stage just before the Lok Sabha elections in 2014.

Life sentence in 2015
In the Mahendra Singh Bhati murder case, a special CBI court on February 15, 2015 convicted DP Yadav and sentenced him to life imprisonment. DP was lodged in Dehradun jail at the time of the verdict. Declaring himself innocent, the DP challenged the decision of the CBI in the Nainital High Court. After 6 years, on November 10, 2021, the High Court acquitted the DP in disgrace.

Accepted SP as your enemy
DP Yadav became MLA for the first time in 1993 because of SP, but after 20 years he considered the same SP as his biggest enemy. He made his brother-in-law Bharat Singh’s wife Poonam Yadav as the district panchayat president of the Badaun district where Dharmendra Yadav of the SP was the MP. Mulayam Singh was the MLA from Gunnaur seat here. No-confidence motion was brought against Poonam in the SP government. When the election was held, Poonam got 41 votes and SP got only 17 votes. The situation of enmity with SP was that he contested against Mulayam Singh Yadav and Ram Gopal Yadav but was defeated both times.

name came in the murder of daughter’s lover
DP’s daughter Bharti Nitish was in love with a boy named Katara. She wanted to get married. Bharti and Nitish were talking while standing together at a family wedding function in Ghaziabad. DP Yadav’s son Vikas saw this. On February 17, 2002, Nitish’s half-burnt body was found by the police. Police started investigation. Vishal and Sukhdev along with Vikas arrest the wrestler. The case went on for 6 years. Nitish’s mother Neelam Katara received threats, but she did not back down. On 30 May 2008, the court sentenced Vishal, Vikas and Sukhdev to life imprisonment.

An interview of DP, who was in jail came two years ago. On asking questions on the relation to criminal incidents, he blamed the society and circumstances for this. Said, ‘As the youth grew in life, the society kept on adding words like Dabang-Dumhi, Bahubali, Land Mafia, Liquor Mafia to my name. The blind people never saw Dharampal, the son of a typical poor farmer.

In Sahaswan seat, DP and Umlesh withdrew their papers. Kunal Yadav has contested the election.

At present, Dharampal alias DP Yadav and his wife Umlesh Yadav are not in the fray. Both had submitted their nominations for the Sahaswan seat on January 25, but withdrew their nominations on February 1. He fielded son Kunal Yadav on his party ticket for the first time. On February 14, 57.52% votes were cast here. Now it has to be seen whether the son wins like in the early days of DP Yadav or will have to struggle now. For this you will have to wait till March 10.
