A case of discrimination against an Indian student has come to light in a UK college for raising voice against religion and anti-India comments. Karan Kataria, a resident of Gurgaon, Haryana, was contesting the union election at the University of London, but has been disqualified for being a Hindu and an Indian. Karan is studying law from the London School of Economics.

Indian student alleged that anti-India campaign is being run in London University. Karan appealed in this regard to the Democracy Committee, but his side was not heard.

Not only this, some Islamic students and a lobby also opposed him. On March 24, a campaign was launched on the WhatsApp group against Karan’s candidature and he was thrown out of the election, accusing him of being a Hindu nationalist.

Targeted because of Hinduphobia
Karan told Dainik Bhaskar that he is discriminated against on the basis of speaking against religion and anti-India statements in the campus. On April 2, on Twitter, he informed about his disqualification from contesting for the post of General Secretary.

Karan had alleged that he was targeted in a personal, vicious manner because of his pro-India stance and Hinduphobia. Karan has demanded that the college take the right decision in this regard.

Karan said, ‘Friends motivated me to contest elections, but some people could not digest an Indian-Hindu like me to lead the LSESU. That’s why they maligned my image.
