State has scheduled caste CM after 72 years, it’s a changing and new Punjab: Navjot Singh Sidhu | Chandigarh News – Times of India

PHAGWARA: Even as there are visible signs of tension between Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu and chief minster Charanjit Singh Channi, the former has said that 72 years after the Independence, Punjab has got a scheduled caste (SC) chief minister.
“After 72 years, Punjab has a SC CM. It is changing Punjab, it is new Punjab, it is a new story, new people have come,” he said, while addressing a rally organised here by local MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal.
Attacking BJP, he said, “They have opened office in Jalandhar and they are telling all thieves and mafia, either go to jail or reach their office. It is politics of arm-twisting. Thieves are now making excuses to leave the Congress and join BJP. ED is being used to arm-twist and make people to join BJP.”
“BJP is playing dirty games. Now, they are claiming credit even for withdrawing farm laws, whereas these were the people who forced them to withdraw. It is a victory of the farmers,” he said. He also accused the saffron party of polarising people.
He also claimed that after elections Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP would join hands again. “If you vote for BJP, it would reach Akali Dal and if you vote SAD, it would reach BJP. Captain Amarinder Singh is already there with BJP. After election they will get together,” he said. He also used strong words for Badals.
He also attacked AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal and called him “biggest liar”. “In Delhi, he promised eight lakh job but gave just 440. He was the first to implement farm laws in Delhi. He showed his back on river water issues. When I was fighting against mafia, he apologised to Bikram Singh Majithia. He employs teachers on 15 day contract. There is no woman or Punjabi in his cabinet,” he said.
In a press release issued by Sidhu’s office after the rally, he was quoted as saying: “In a short time of appointment, the current chief minister of Punjab has paved the way for an enterprising state and displayed hope for equality in the system. It’s time that the system tackles with child mortality rate in SC community as children are future of the state and they should be protected from the evils of the society. It is important to ask questions about BJP policy on SC benefits which were to be disbursed funds to people and with a delay of 3-4 years now, there is no sign of these benefits being forwarded to its right people.”
