Australian veteran left-handed batsman Shaun Marsh has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket and will play his last ever match as a professional cricketer against Sydney Thunder on Wednesday, January 17.

Shaun Marsh’s Career In A Nutshell
The Western Australia-based cricketer has had a memorable and cherished career. A decorated batter with seamless effort in timing with perfection, phrases can’t do justice to the might of Shaun Marsh for the franchises he has played for:

Shaun Marsh has been a great team player over the years for the franchises he has played in his long and illustrious career. A seemingly traditional and orthodox batter, Marsh does all the basics a great amount of justice with his sheer class and temperament. Such is his prominence in temperament and game reading that even amongst the renowned great hitters and run getters in the inaugural season of Indian Premier League, it was a certain ‘Shaun Marsh’ that ended up bagging the orange cap for his antics with Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings).
He bagged an astonishing 616 runs within just 11 innings, at an average of a mammoth 68.44, with a blistering strike rate of 139.68. He didn’t have a huge IPL career though as he merely managed to play 71 matches and score 2477 runs in 69 innings, whilst averaging 39.95.
The Western Australia batsman will retire as one of the greatest servants of the Australian cricket and one half of one of the most successful pair of brothers to grace the pitch of cricket (his brother being the Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh).
Shaun Marsh will though, play a dead rubber as both, his side Melbourne Renegades, and his opponents Sydney Thunder, have already been eliminated from the Big Bash League 2023-24.
