New Delhi: Ahead of the floor test scheduled on July 4, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has called a meeting of the party later on Sunday, party leader Jayant Patil said, reported news agency ANI. The meeting has been called with two agendas on table the first one being the trust vote that is scheduled to take place tomorrow.
The second agenda of the meeting will be to choose a Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
Eknath Shindewho rebelled against his party Shiv Sena, was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. With his new government, Shinde has to now prove majority on the speaker for which a trust vote will take place on Monday, July 4. This came after Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari asked Shinde to prove his majority in the House.

Regarding the same, Shinde’s cabinet also decided to convene a two-day special session of the state legislature on July 3 and 4.
The development came after Uddhav Thackeray-led government was toppled post Shinde along with 39 other Shiv Sena MLAs withdrawing their support to the party, pushing the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in minority.
Shinde, who also had support of independents — taking the total number to 50 — formed the government with the BJP, which has 106 MLAs in the House.
