‘Shamshera’ Day 2 Box Office Collection: Ranbir Kapoor’s Film Fails To Make Its Mark

New Delhi: Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Shamshera’ has seemingly failed to make its mark at the box-office. The film, produced under the Yash Raj Films banner, was much hyped by the makers for its storyline and also, for giving audience the chance to witness Ranbir Kapoor in a double role. With its release on July 22, ‘Shamshera’ opened to very slack reviews at the box office.

The film managed to earn Rs 10 crore on its opening day, contrary to the expectations of amassing Rs 14-15 crore. With all the hype around the period-action drama, the film did not manage to fare good reviews from film critics. Ranbir Kapoor’s stardom has also not been able to bring fans to the theatres.

‘Shamshera’ has been made on a budget of Rs 150 crore and potentially has all the elements to make it a Bollywood hit but it has not managed to garner the viewership it required, despite having the highest number of screens in the post-Pandemic era.

According to Box Office India report, ‘Shamshera’ has a 15-20% low opening and is pretty much on the same lines as ‘Samrat Prithviraj’. According to other reports that are circulating, ‘Shamshera’ opened at Rs. 9.65 crores, Rs. 10.65 crores net on the box office.”

The film might not have been able to fare well so far, but Ranbir Kapoor’s performance in the dual roles as ‘Balli’ and ‘Shamshera’ and Sanjay Dutt’s performance as the horrifying and villainous ‘Shuddh Singh’ is being hailed by the audience and critics alike.

Despite its heroic storyline and all the drama, the film is meeting the same fate as Akshay Kumar’s ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, another period action-drama by Yash Raj Films, that failed massively at the box office.
