Seven-year-old girl was first raped, then set on fire: Grandmother was cooking food in Anganwadi center, the accused committed abominable act outside

A shocking incident of raping a seven-year-old girl came to light from Theni district of Tamil Nadu. The 19-year-old accused first tried to rape the girl, but when the girl raised an alarm, she fled after setting her on fire. The girl has suffered up to 65 per cent burns. He is undergoing treatment in the hospital. Police have arrested the accused.

According to the information, the parents of the girl live in another city. The girl was studying at her grandmother’s house. Her grandmother works as a cook at the Anganwadi centre. The victim is studying in class III. The incident happened on July 2 at 11 am. The girl was on holiday. So the grandmother took him to the Anganwadi center with her. She was cooking food at the center and the child was playing outside the centre. When the victim’s screaming sound came, the grandmother ran outside. There he saw the granddaughter burning amidst the flames.

The victim girl’s grandmother and other Anganwadi workers together somehow extinguished the fire. The girl was taken to the government hospital in Chinnamanur for treatment, from where she was referred to Theni Medical College. Seeing the condition of the victim, she was referred to the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai district a few hours later.

The girl said – if she will tell her grandmother, then the accused started fire
On receiving the information, police officials reached the spot. The accused has been identified as Vijaykumar. Initial police investigation revealed that the accused took the girl with him and tried to rape her. The girl started making noise and said that she would tell her grandmother and the teachers of the Anganwadi center about the incident. After this Vijay Kumar collected some junk papers from there. First the paper then set fire to the girl’s clothes. Thereafter the accused himself absconded. Police arrested Vijaykumar and sent him to judicial custody. He has been booked under the POCSO Act and attempt to murder.

The accused used to carry out the incidents of theft
According to the TOI report, the girl’s uncle told that he is shocked after the incident. Vijaykumar had earlier carried out petty thefts. Though the villagers had let him off with a warning, now the accused set his niece on fire. The girl’s uncle demanded the harshest punishment for the accused.

School campus environment is not good
District Child Protection Officer Simon George and Child Welfare Committee member B Pandiarajan visited Anganwadi center and school on Monday. Learned about the incident. Pandiarajan said, during interrogation, the villagers informed that the wall of the school is low. Anti-social elements jump and enter the school premises. After drinking alcohol, bottles are left on the premises. Several times the school manager was requested to inform the district administration about this so that a safe environment can be created for the children, but so far this has not happened.

1. Neighbor’s servant molested a 6-year-old girl
A 6-year-old girl was molested by a neighbor’s servant in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The girl’s parents had left the daughter with their brother (the girl’s uncle) and went to the relative’s place. The girl was playing outside the house when Dheeraj, a neighbor’s servant living next door, took her to the mango orchard, where he raped the girl. The girl covered in blood came home and told the whole incident to her uncle. She had to be admitted to the hospital as her condition deteriorated. On the complaint of the parents, the police arrested the accused Dhiraj on June 30.

2. Tuition teacher raped a 4-year-old child
In May, a 4-year-old boy was molested by a tuition teacher in Supaul district of Bihar. When the girl returned home, her private part was bleeding. On being asked by the mother, scared little Jaan told the whole thing. The incident is from a village under Chhattapur police station area. The accused was arrested on the complaint of the mother.
