A case of ragging has come to light in Indore’s MGM Medical College. Anti-ragging committee has got many evidences of ragging in the preliminary investigation. On the recommendation of the committee, Sanyogitaganj Police has registered a case against unknown senior students under various sections on behalf of the college. Senior students were taking ragging of first year students for three months. Senior students used to force their juniors to have unnatural relations with their peers. Along with this, he used to make obscene comments on the girl students.

A junior student has gathered all the technical evidence against these seniors. Its complaint was sent to Delhi UGC and its Anti Ragging Committee. After this the matter reached the dean and handed over all the evidence including audio, chatting, location to the police.

Senior students used to harass like this
- The accused students used to compel him to give the name of every senior, the full address of his original residence correctly.
- Students were asked to come after shaving everyday.
- Seniors used to talk obscenely to him in a loud voice.
- Every time he used to call her at different places. If he was late for half an hour, he used to get him sit-ups for that long.
- Even if the student got tired and crushed, he would not even let him sit.
- If a junior student mispronounced a senior’s name, they used to get his fellow students slapped.
- Seniors used to say that the sound of the slap was not well received. Saying this he used to get slapped many times.
- Seniors used to force the victim student and others to take the name of their classmate, abuse her, comment on her figure, complexion etc.
- Seniors often used to ask students to have unnatural relations with their peers.
- Used to call on the flat for this. During this they used to keep their mobiles so that they could not record any activity.
- Junior was forced to stay in the flat with his comrades for 5 hours.
- After leaving the flat, the seniors used to tell him forget what happened. There are many of these seniors who have been in college for five years.
- Juniors were not even allowed to enter the library and canteen. Even when they used to go to the water cooler for water, they were stopped.
- Due to such antics of the seniors, the juniors were also mentally tortured.
- Due to the torture, many juniors turned to suicide.
Names of eight seniors in investigation
Dean Dr. Sanjay Dixit told that on Sunday I had received the complaint. The matter was immediately handed over to the Anti Ragging Committee. The committee found the matter serious in the investigation and instead of recommending disciplinary action, asked to register an FIR against the accused seniors. On this late night an application was made to the police for FIR. All the technical evidences provided by the aggrieved student in the case have also been handed over to the police. According to ethics, the names of the victims and seniors have not been mentioned in the complaint. It is a matter of police investigation. On the other hand, the police have taken action under sections 5, 17 of the UGC Act, assault, intimidation and other sections. Initially, the names of eight seniors have come to the fore in the investigation.
