“All persons aged 60 years and above with co-morbidities will not be required to produce/submit any certificate from the doctor, at the time of administration of precaution dose,” the Union Health Ministry said in a statement.

“Appointments can be booked online or onsite (walk-in). Services in the on-site (walk-in) mode will be available subject to the availability of vaccination slots,” said Health Ministry.

COVID Vaccine Guidelines

On Monday, the Health Ministry had issued guidelines for the precaution dose to healthcare and frontline workers, and 60+ population with co-morbidities.

All people aged 60 and up with comorbidities who have received two doses of the Covid vaccine will be given a precautionary dose beginning January 10, 2022.

“The prioritisation and sequencing of this precaution dose would be based on the completion of 9 months i.e. 39 weeks from the date of administration of the second dose,” reads the guidelines.

HCWs, FLWs and citizens aged 60 years or above with comorbidities will be able to register for the precaution dose through their existing Co-WIN account.

Eligibility for the precaution dose will be based on the date of administration of the second dose as recorded in the Co-WIN system, which will send an SMS for availing the precaution dose when it becomes due, the ministry said.

Details of administration of the precaution dose will reflect in vaccination certificates.
