Senior advocate Indira Jaising writes to CJI for live streaming of constitution bench cases

With an aim of ensuring more transparency in the court proceedings, especially in cases related to constitutional importance, senior advocate Indira Jaising has written to the Chief Justice of India, U U Lalit, that the proceedings being held before the Constitution Benches in the Supreme Court should be live streamed as it is a part of the fundamental right of every citizen to have freedom of information.

The top court is hearing a batch of constitution cases after the present Chief Justice of India U U Lalit took over and changed the listing of the cases. In her letter she also stated that the court should have its own channel and, in the meantime, can start streaming the proceedings on its website as well as on YouTube. Many High Courts across the country are already live streaming the proceedings.
