Self-reliant women bolster nation’s progress, says UP CM Yogi Adityanath | Varanasi News – Times of India

GORAKHPUR: Praising the role of women and their contribution to the country’s economy, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said a self-reliant woman helps the generation and nation achieve self-reliance.
Speaking at a seminar at Guru Shri Gorakshnath College of Nursing in Gorakhpur on International Women’s Day, the CM said, “When a woman or girl becomes self-reliant, her family becomes self-reliant too and her generation and nation move ahead on the path of self-reliance.” He distributed certificates and medals to the trainees and advised the students not to take any shortcuts for success and said that hard work, perseverance, and struggle help attain the capabilities required for success.
He also appealed people to end distinction between sons and daughters in the families to help eradicate sex discrimination from the society.
“Women had equal voting rights since the first election in free India even though women in modern countries like the UK didn’t have voting rights. In most countries, women struggled to get voting rights,” Yogi said.
There was no inequality for women in the society in India, so justice, freedom and equality is in the spirit of the Constitution but they were not implemented well in the last many years, he added.
“Our colleges and institutes should play an active role in implementation of government schemes for women. After Modi ji came to power, he started ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ and other schemes to tackle discrimination,” the CM said. He appealed to educational institutions to spread awareness about schemes of the Central and state governments for women so that they can avail the benefits.
