Scooty driver dies after being hit by bus in Siliguri, 48-hour service shutdown in Sikkim

Siliguri’s Shalugara became heated after the death of a scooty driver in a bus accident. The Sikkim Transport Corporation bus was set on fire by the agitated crowd. A fire engine came to the spot after receiving the news. The bus fire was extinguished. The accused bus driver has been arrested by the police. Meanwhile, Sikkim has stopped bus services on that route for 48 hours.

The killer bus lost control and hit a scooty in front of the army camp in Shalugara, Siliguri around 3 pm on Sunday. The driver of the killer bus lost control while overtaking another bus. The bus hit the scooty driver coming from the opposite direction. A firefighter said he was rescued and taken to hospital. Later, a scooty driver named Sachin Chhetri died. who was returning home from Sevak to Shalugarh.

Immediately after the accident, an agitated mob set the Sikkim Transport Corporation bus on fire. Due to this, heavy traffic jam was created on National Highway No. 31. A fire engine came to the spot after receiving the news. The bus fire was extinguished. Police from Bhaktinagar police station also came. The killer bus driver has been arrested. Officials of the Sikkim government said that bus services on that route have been stopped for the next 48 hours.
