Lucknow DM Suryapal Gangawar has ordered the closure of schools till class 12 after lightning and heavy rains hit Lucknow at around 2.30 am

All schools in Lucknow will remain closed today, September 11 due to heavy rain and a severe thunderstorm. District Magistrate Suryapal Gangawar has ordered the closure of schools till class 12 after lightning and heavy rains hit Lucknow at around 2.30 am.

According to the order issued by District Magistrate Suryapal Gangwar, keeping in mind the warning of heavy rain along with lightning issued by the Meteorological Department, schools up to class 12 of all the boards in all urban and rural areas of Lucknow city will remain closed. All government, government-aided, and private schools will remain shut, stated the official notice.

District Magistrate Suryapal Gangwar said that the weather has been continuously bad in Lucknow for the last few hours. It is raining continuously due to which this order has been issued. It has been ensured that this order is strictly followed.

Several areas in the state capital were reported to be waterlogged and strong winds led to snapping of electricity and telecom wires. The district administration has initiated relief and rescue measures even as rain continues to lash the state capital, reported IANS.

According to the information issued by Lucknow Meteorological Centre, there is no sign of the rain stopping till 10 am on Monday. This means that the rain that started late at night will continue till 10 am today. Apart from this, it will rain intermittently throughout the day.

Meanwhile, the schools of the basic education department in UP will be conducting quarterly assessments of the students. Exams will be conducted from today, September 11 to 16. It will be based on target/learning outcomes achieved through Saral App. The level of knowledge, in language and mathematics, of students from Classes 1 to 5 and that of mathematics and science subjects of students from Classes 6 to 8 will be tested.

For students of Classes 1 to 3, one question paper will be provided for every five children. Question papers will be given to every student in Classes 4 to 8. The responsibility of conducting the examination with integrity will be of the Basic Education Officer (BEO), Block Education Officer, and District Coordinator (Training).
