For the fifth consecutive day, schools and colleges in Chennai have been ordered to remain shut today, December 8. The government of Tamil Nadu has issued an official order declaring a holiday keeping in mind the safety of the students in light of the flood-affected parts of Chennai.Students and parents have been asked to contact their respective educational institute administrators for information on online classes and other developments.
Due to Cyclone Michaung and the rains that followed it, several areas of Chennai have been experiencing landslides, flooding, and other civic problems and relief work in currently underway across the state . It has been recommended that parents and students pay attention to the notifications that are sent out by the schools regarding the holidays.

The schools and colleges in the two circles of Sriperumbudur and Kunradathur, which have been flooding for the past two days owing to cyclone Michuang, are to remain shut, according to an order issued by Kalachelvi Mohan, the district collector of Kanchipuram.
The half-yearly exams in Chennai and other areas impacted by floods and Cyclone Michaung have been postponed by theTamil Nadu School Education Department. Exams slated to be conducted on December 7 have been rescheduled. However, after considering the situation in the region, the government granted the schools the right to perform the examinations according to a new timetable once the situation stabilises.
