The Supreme Court said that we are not satisfied with the counter affidavit filed by Lalit Modi.

The Supreme Court reprimanded Lalit Modi for making remarks against the judiciary in a social media post. The court has directed former Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner Lalit Modi to tender an unconditional apology.

M.R. A bench of Justices Shah and CT Ravikumar said that the court was not satisfied with the counter affidavit filed by him, considering that Lalit Modi was not above law and institution. The Supreme Court has also directed Lalit Modi to apologize on social media and in leading national newspapers.

The top court also directed him to file an affidavit before apologizing and asked not to post anything in future that tarnishes the image of the Indian judiciary.

Earlier on Wednesday, Lalit Modi had made a tweet. He wrote in the tweet- Just to make it clear that these brokers defame India and its judiciary by spreading lies. They can’t do anything except show off and demand money for fixing. However, it may not be clear yet what Lalit Modi has tweeted about.

Lalit is absconding from the country since 2010
Lalit Modi started IPL in 2008. He was the chairman and commissioner of IPL till 2010. In 2010, Lalit was removed on charges of rigging and was also suspended from the BCCI. Lalit fled the country in 2010 following allegations in a money laundering case.
